I want to welcome you, on behalf of the volunteers and staff of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, to our website. We hope that you will find our site to be a rich source of information about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, the Society, our programs and services, research as well as our upcoming events and campaigns.

The Society exists to provide Help for today - Hope for tomorrow for the growing population of people we serve – people with the disease, their caregivers and their families. Demand for our core services of information, education and support are growing. As a result, we have strengthened our team of volunteers and staff, to respond to these needs.

Members of our Board of Directors and volunteers who populate our committees bring valuable skills and expertise in long-term and continuing care, government relations, fund development and communications, business and finance, elder and estate law, clinical practice, research and education, as well as first-hand experience living with Alzheimer Disease.

There is still much to do to fulfill our mission - to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer Disease and other dementias and promote the search for causes, treatments and cures, but our strategic plan and new governance policy will guide us on our journey of support, education, advocacy and discovery.

The Society continues to face a variety of challenges – making our services accessible to all those who need them, expanding our network of volunteers and partners, nurturing a productive partnership with government decision-makers and developing a stable and predictable revenue stream.

We are grateful for the generosity of our donors who support our work through donations, gifts in memory of family and friends and planned gifts. Our achievements are a result of the steadfast dedication of our volunteers and staff, the generosity of our supporters and the courage of the people we serve - those with the disease, their caregivers and their families. We pledge to continue working to provide Help for today - Hope for tomorrow.
