One of the five strategic directions of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia is to advocate, to be a voice, for the needs of people affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias (ADOD) in collaboration with other stakeholders. The Society, in order to be an effective and proactive advocate for those we serve, must play a leadership role in identifying program and service needs, public policy requirements and regulatory issues to be addressed and then take appropriate action. The Society must also champion best practices by others in diagnosis, care, treatment, education, support and research into causes, care and cure related to ADOD. The Society engages in initiatives that enhance the supports and services available to our clients and continuously seeks to create an effective continuum of health care and support for those we serve.
