Since December 2003, the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia has worked closely with organizations in Cape Breton to form a partnership known as the Dementia Network of Cape Breton. The Network includes service provider agencies, departments and stakeholders in the community who work together to identify and deliver services to positively impact the lives of families living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
The Network is currently focusing on:
- Hosting events to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
- Developing a document for support providers who work with families that have a person with dementia in their home; and
- Addressing issues related to education and support for people with dementia and their families.
Meetings are held Fridays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. every second month at various locations throughout Cape Breton facilitated by the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
For more information, or if you are interested in volunteering with the Society or being consulted about your ideas for future planning to address the needs in Cape Breton, please contact Patsy LeBlanc at
